Blair Retires
So Tony Blair's finally announced when he's going to retire.
It's all rather sad really. I've never been a Labour supporter perse but I have to admit they have done a lot of good things and I was like so many people very hopeful when they cam to power in 1997. But I'm not sure any of those things can counteract what's happened in Iraq personally.
I've had many debates with friends about Iraq and blair, and bush, climate change, economics, technology and science and living in the UK is strange what really gets to be the most heated of debates. Not gun law, gay marriage or abortion, things that seem to cause so much division in the US but the Iraq war, well shall we say I've seen some pretty rational people show a side of themselves that honestly stunned me.
I think discussing these things is really important, as is telling your MP what you think via services such as TheyWorkForYou.com but sometimes you're just a voice amongst the masses and that's how it should it be, that's democracy.
However every so often you come across an opportunity to help someone who's really trying to initiate change and if you have a way to help them and you want to you find a way. Reg Keys wanted to make sure Tony Blair couldn't just dismiss the consequences of the war in Iraq at the last election and they needed help with the website. Weblobe had only had 1 site launched on it at that time and managing a website that's having press releases, testimonials of support and loads of other stuff shoved at it all hours day and night really is a good test and it was.
I'm really glad that I got involved, it was a very manic month but when Reg got to tell Blair exactly how he felt about the consequences of Blair's decision it was worth it.
So I don't generally post comments on other peoples blogs especially when it comes to political stuff, forgive me for saying this but there's just too many Trolls looking to goad people, I don't have time for that.
I say get your own blog or website, actually do something if you truly feel strongly about something. It's so easy to say you care about something or hate something but it's all talk unless you actually take some form of action. Unless of course you're talking to your MP, that's different.
For historical purposes:

Wow that was just over 2 years ago. So we didn't get to kick him out but he has gone and Iraq still haunts him, quite frankly until they find a way to bring back all the civilians who've been killed it should in my opinion.
For the record yes I do think Sadam should have gone. He should have gone in way that had a long term plan and the backing of the UN. That's my point of view.
